5 Fall Albums We're Stoked To Hear

Cuddle up with a pumpkin spice latte and your cozy earbuds: Here are five albums coming out this autumn that we're super excited about!

Yuck-Glow-Behold

Yuck Glow & Behold Oct. 1 on Fat Possum Yuck are bound to go down in history as one of the most seamless examples of picking up after their lead singer departs. Daniel Blumberg might be gone, but in his place is more of the same beautiful '90s-influenced, fuzzy dream pop these Brits are known for. You can dig the delicious Dinosaur Jr. descendent, "Middle Sea," here: http://youtu.be/71Jv6iQrm8o

ofmontreal

Of Montreal lousy with slyvianbriar Oct. 8 on Polyvinyl It wouldn't be an Of Montreal album without a weird title. But Kevin Barnes and Co. reel in the cosmic disco goofiness on this one. "fugitive air" (sic) suggests a more down-to-earth approach. Tune in, turn on, but maybe skip the acid this time. Enjoy the clean "air" via Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/polyvinyl-records/of-montreal-01-fugitive-air

pearl-jam-lightning-bolt

Pearl Jam Lightning Bolt Oct. 15 on Monkeywrench/Republic At 48, Eddie Vedder shows no signs of slowing down. He led his mighty rock band through a rainy, absolutely rad Wrigley Field concert in July-- possibly dodging REAL lightning bolts to make sure the show went on. Aurally, PJ have as much fight in them as they did back in the Ten days. Newest single "Mind Your Manners" reeks of "Do the Evolution" nepotism, in the best way possible. ReflektorFilm_Reflektor.com_060813

Arcade Fire Reflektor Oct. 29 on Merge Sorry, guys. Can't help you out on the sought-after audio leak of the eponymous lead track off Reflektor. (Patience- it'll be all over the net come 9/9/13 at 9 p.m.) But after garnering Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammys for their previous epic, The Suburbs, expectations are through the roof on this one. One can definitely hear producer James Murphy's (LCD Soundsystem) influence on the album, as the song "Reflektor" has a bounciness and elation that kind of eluded The Suburbs. A woozy album preview is here: http://youtu.be/4i2wp3GkNrg

MIA-MATANGI

M.I.A. Matangi Nov. 5 on Interscope FINALLY. After Interscope sat on the album for ages, allegedly for being too upbeat (huh?!), we were graced with a Nov. 5 street date. True, Maya Arulpragasm isn't spitting as much vitriol into her foe's faces on these songs, but they still rank among the year's best bangers. (She could school Miley on what that term really means.) Have a taste of Matangi with the lyrics video for "Come Walk With Me": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_11uQVI21mQ What fall albums are you most excited for? Tell us in the comments.
