About
Description
Music that reflects a unique perspective on life is Jay Adams.
Born on August 11, Jay Adams (formally known as Slique) is an up and coming balladeer that hails from both the south and west sides of Chicago. Growing up first on the west side and then moving onto the south side, Jay began his love for music at an early age. Music runs in his genes as his dad was a jazz musician and had an r&b/gospel band with Jay’s aunts and uncles. His great-grandmother was also a singer so it was inevitable that he too would follow along in that musically gifted pathway.
He speaks about relationships through song; the experience of falling in and out of love exudes through his rhythm & ghetto soul flavor. As a prolific songwriter and versatile producer and performer, Jay Adams is an emerging sensation in a generation filled solely with rap and pop. His incredible talent is second to none and his gifted ability won’t allow his music to be locked into one genre or sound of music. Being from Chicago, he has a great feel for his city and you can hear it in his music. His vibe is a harmonious blend of rhythm, blues, soul, gospel, pop, dance and hip-hop that fills the void in a generation that has yet to experience true love through music.
In high school, Jay joined the group Entourage. The group signed under the label Un-D-Nyable Entertainment, a company founded by former White Sox player Frank “Big Hurt” Thomas. Jay wrote and produced songs for that group, one which included a fan favorite “When”. Years later, Jay returned to the scene formerly known to the masses as Slique or Slique Jay Adams. That brand helped him to grow into his own musically and with that growth came change as he now brands himself as strictly Jay Adams, his family name that will also leave a musical legacy for generations to come.
In May of 2009, Jay’s debut album “Rhythm & Ghetto Soul” (distributed by EMI in the U.S.), garnered a top 20 single entitled “Your Body” with over 15,000 BDS spins. Since then Jay Adam’s popularity has broadened and he has performed at The Urban Network Conference in California, R&B Live (Los Angeles), Stevie Wonder & KJLH’s Annual MLK Day Parade & Concert In The Park and Jamie Foxx’s Satellite “The Foxx Hole”, Radio One’s WPHI, WRNB & WPPZ - Philadelphia’s Music Conference. Jay’s musical experience extends to a performance in the Teddy Pendergrass Legendary Tribute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ_jvV4M8fM for an all-star audience including honorees Patti Labelle, Boys II Men, Jamie Foxx and Yolanda Adams. Additionally, Jay Adams has performed at WGPR (Detroit) “Warm Summer Night Event with KJon, WGCI/ V103 (Chicago) Black Women’s Expo with Charlie Wilson, KJon, Ruben Studdard, Avant and Steve Harvey. Jay’s musical performances also include Chicago events with Rick Ross, Twista, Young Dro, OJ Tha Juiceman, Ben One and Crucial Conflict, Charleston, South Carolina’s Funk Fest with Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Bobby Brown, Doug E. Fresh, Al B. Sure and Aaron Hall of Guy.
Jay’s smash hit “Your Body” and songs “Addicted” and “Sexy Wit It”, received radio support in Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, Milwaukee, Mississippi, Sirius & XM Satellite radio and internet radio. Jay has received the generous support from the Steppers community (“Step The Night Away”), and his music is available on all digital outlets including iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon. Jay Adam’s musical prowess has allowed him to write and produce for several artists and he is now joining forces with his label, Dominion Music Group, as he gears up for two brand new singles, one being “Birthday Slide” a definite party starter that will get you up out of your seat and off the wall. The other is “Please” which stands for
P(Peace).L(Love).E(Encourage).A(Assist).S(Support).E(Everyone). – a song that speaks to the world as it deals with all that is plaguing society today, such as violence, disease and hopelessness. Both are expected to impact the radio nationwide.
Jay Adams has always wanted to work with musical geniuses of R-Kelly, Dr. Dre, Babyface and Kanye West. When asked what music meant him, he replied,” Music is about remembering a moment”. Jay wants to be known as a versatile artist who makes music for the world. His family inspires him daily, but it is God that inspires him the most as he strives everyday to get closer to Him and you can hear that as well through his music. To sum it all up, a man who is gifted, talented, laid back but will bring the party to you! With a new brand, new singles and new projects forthcoming, the world is waiting for the spirit-filled, sensational & seductive voice of Jay Adams
